What type of skin do you have? (oily, dry, combo or sensitive)

Hey girl, what’s your type? We’re not talking tall, dark and handsome kinda type. We’re talking about something much more important… Skin type! Understanding your skin type is the single most important step in your caring for your skin. It allows you to create a regimen that caters to your specific needs so you can achieve that coveted even-toned, blemish-free, glowing-from-within complexion…

So, what’s my type?

Let’s play a game! Head into your bathroom and cleanse your face thoroughly with your mild, everyday cleanser and gently pat it dry. Leave your skin bare (we know, it’s hard not to reach for the moisturizer!) and set a timer for 30 minutes. Once your buzzer goes off, take a peek in the mirror and note what you see. If your skin is tight and matte when you smile or make facial expressions, your skin is likely dry. If you notice some shine on your forehead and nose, your skin is likely normal or combination. If you also see some serious gleam on your cheeks, you likely have oily skin. If your skin gets irritated and red whenever you introduce a new product, you likely have sensitive skin. Now that you know your type, let’s see how you should care for it:

DRY:

If your skin feels tight and dry, you need to load it up with more moisture! Aside from drinking lots of water throughout the day, your skin needs some topical hydration. Our skincare system rich with ultra-hydrating ingredients (coconut oil, shea butter, etc) that pair well with parched skin. Adding the Coconut Rose Toner to your skincare routine will immediately boost moisture because its main ingredient is coconut extract, a very saturated dose of coco hydration.

OILY:

If your skin is glowing a little too much, you need to be careful with cleansers! Contrary to what you might think, oil-based cleansers are really good for oily skin. Why? Because the good oils in the cleanser help draw out bacteria, makeup, debris and other impurities without stripping away the natural oils your skin is already producing.

COMBO:

If your skin is a little oily on your T-zone (forehead, nose, cheek) but nowhere else, you have a combination of oily and dry skin -- this is pretty normal! Sticking to a set system that cleanses, tones, and moisturizes will keep your skin in tip-top shape.

SENSITIVE:

If your skin tends to get red or irritated easily, you need to be very selective with the products you use. Always opt for skincare products that are rich with simple, naturally-derived ingredients and free of harsh toxins. We keep silicones, sulfates, parabens, and phthalates out of our products so even the most sensitive skin can keep things coconut!
