How to Have A Spa Day At Home

How to Have A Spa Day At Home

On the spectrum of self care, we’d consider ourselves to be on the side of “less is more”. We prefer to primp without parabens and we like our skincare routine sans sulfates. And on any given day, you’re more likely to find us with sea salt sprayed hair than a meticulously manicured mane, and with sandy toes in lieu of perfectly polished ones. That being said, we’ve yet to find a babe or beau who doesn’t appreciate a bit of pampering every once in awhile, ourselves included.

While it’s fun to spoil yourself at a fancy schmancy spa, we think there’s something to be said for DIY-ing the experience and indulging within the comfort of your own home. Not only do you stand to save a ton of cash that way, but there’s also no getting nudged off the massage table or being told your time is up. And if you want to watch guilty pleasure TV while you wait for that hair mask to soak in—more power to you. Sounds pretty great, doesn’t it? We think so too, which is why we’ve decided to share our favorite spa-worthy splurges that’ll have you feeling the TLC from head to toe. Slather on these treatments, make yourself comfortable and queue up Netflix, because THIS is what an at-home spa day is all about.

Coconut Melt Hair Mask

Coconut Melt Hair Mask

Love on your locks by taking a scoop of our cult classic Coconut Melt and working it through your hair. We like to start with dry hair so that the restorative proteins in our Coconut Melt can easily reach the hair shaft and repair hair from the inside out. This treatment can be applied to wet or dry hair; our only caveat is that you block out at least an hour to let the Coconut Melt work its magic. Once you’ve fully saturated your strands, wrap them up into a loose bun and secure under a shower cap or small towel. When you’re ready to rinse, apply shampoo directly to your roots and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then wash out normally.

Helpful hint: If your hair leans on the oily side, concentrate the majority of the Coconut Melt on your ends. If your hair tends to be drier, try leaving the treatment in overnight.

Better Than A Bubble Bath

Better Than A Bubble Bath

We didn’t think bubble baths had much room for improvement, until now. Make your bath better by swirling a bit of Coconut Melt into the warm water. While it might not look like much at first, the end result is silky, impossibly soft skin. If you’re looking to relieve aches and pains, you can add Epsom salt to the bath to further soothe sore muscles and stiff joints. Be cautious when getting out of the tub post-soak as it may be a little slippery.

Helpful hint: A little goes a long way here—think a golf ball-sized glob.

The Ultimate Treat For Your Feet

Even the most expensive of pedicures won’t get your feet this soft. Give hard heels the royal treatment by scooping a healthy amount of Coconut Melt into two plastic bags. Zip the bags closed, then work the Coconut Melt between the palms of your hands to liquefy. Once fully melted, put one bag on each foot and give yourself at least 15 minutes to simply sit and relax. To remove, rinse with hot water and no soap (soap can strip the oils from your newly smoothed skin).

Helpful hint: Wrap your bagged feet in a towel to keep in warmth and make the treatment even more effective.
